Why should you decide to run the Virginia's Blue Ridge 8K? Simple! Salem is known as "Virginia's Championship City," which hosts various NCAA Championship events. We are bringing that championship mentality to this race. This course allows you to see Salem and experience why we are called the "Championship City."
The Virginia's Blue Ridge 8K is a scenic tour of Salem in which you will run through sights & sounds of our beautiful city. The race starts on Main

This course has been measured and certified to USA Track and Field (USATF) standards. USATF Certification: VA17024RT. Note the course is 82.6 feet long in order to coincide the start and finish with the Half Marathon course.

What do you get?
Every runner in the Half Marathon, 8K & Kids Mile will receive an official race shirt and a custom medal at the finish line where you will be greeted by the race director, family, friends and other spectators to congratulate you! All runners 21+ will also receive a free beer from Olde Salem Brewing Company to be used Friday night at Packet Pick-up or Saturday after the race.
Packet & T-shirt Pick-Up
Packet pick-up will be at the Salem Farmers Market behind Olde Salem Brewing Company on October 11, 2019 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.
photo ID is required to pick up your race packet. You may pick up a
race packet for another pre-registered runner, provided you have a copy
of their photo ID.
Overall awards are
determined by clock time; age group awards by chip time. Additional
awards will be presented to the top three (3) in all age groups in all
races. Age groups are: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34,
35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75 & up.
Awards Ceremony will take place on the
stage at the Salem Farmers Market at approximately 9:30 a.m.
The Team Competition is where groups of five or more may compete against one another. Sign up as a team and go head to head for bragging rights as this year’s best team! Awards will be given out to the Top 3 finishing teams in both the LewisGale Half Marathon and the Virginia’s Blue Ridge 8K (total time of your five fastest runners). There will also be a Participation Award for the team who has the most members registered. The team captain will create the team during registration then members will be able to join using the team name when they register for the race.
If you have already registered for the race you can still be a part of the Team Competition! All you will need to do is log back into your Active account and add a team to your registration form! If you have any additional questions please contact us at email@example.com.
Entry fees are non-refundable. If you have signed up but want to switch to another race, you can switch to either race at any time including at the expo. There is no cost to switch races except the difference in price for races. Runners may also defer their registration for the following year or transfer their bib to another runner.

The LewisGale Salem Half Marathon is the only half marathon in Salem. This is a race that will allow every type of runner to get out and accomplish their first half marathon or 8K.
